Motorcycle Safety Officers form an integral part of the NEG Wales service.
The role of an Motorcycle Safety Officer (MSO) is a varied one. Competitor safety is always the MSO's primary concern, ensuring that traffic passes road-based events or that the route is clear for competitors to proceed.
On the rare occasion that unexpected incidents occur, MSO's are trained to administer first aid and undertake traffic control and scene management to ensure the safety of other competitors and cause minimum disruption to the flow of traffic.
All our MSO's have attended a HSE Appointed Persons First Aid course and are trained in - the principles of first aid - resuscitation - control of bleeding - care of the unconscious. MSO's regularly attend classroom theory courses and updates on legislation and safety issues.
All our MSO are very experienced motorcyclists who have undergone extensive training from our NEG Wales assessment team which includes:
-
An Initial assessment of riding skills
-
A rigorous training programme
-
In race training partnered with an existing, experienced MSO
-
Final assessment of skills
All our members have access to a web portal and web based rota system.
